The initial scope included structural steel wind girts and window wall support framing on multiple levels of the building. The wind gifts presented challenges due to their placement within the building’s perimeter, needing precise installation within the window contractors’ tolerances.
Additionally, the carport canopy was originally designed in steel by the project engineer. The biggest challenge being that after completion, it would need to be clad with aluminum, increasing the cost.
Finally, the main entrance of the Porte Cochere Canopy comprised a structure made up of 2 3/4″ thick galvanized plate box girders, which had to be fully welded for their entire length.
We worked with our engineering team and built the carport canopy entirely in aluminum, yielding a higher-end finish product.
The Porte Cochere Canopy, the signature feature of the building, was the most complicated detail, but our crew rose to the challenge, making the Turnberry Ocean Club one of our hallmark projects that will remain an icon on the shores of Sunny Isles Beach for years to come.
