OVERVIEW

The Brightline Aventura Train Station, a newly constructed inter-city high-speed rail system, spans 9,000 square feet on 3.5 acres of land, using 75 tons of structural steel. It includes a remarkable 4,500 square foot pedestrian sky bridge. Serving as a connecting station for Miami, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, and Orlando, this project is a pivotal transportation hub in the region.

CHALLENGE

We faced a significant challenge during the installation of the 75-ton steel bridge at the Brightline Aventura Train Station. Maneuvering within a narrow 16-foot-wide section, we carefully lowered a 135-foot long bridge with less than 2 inches of leeway on each side. This intricate process required close coordination with the General Contractor, Florida East Coast Railways, and FPL. To ensure safety and success, we temporarily shut down tracks and highways for three hours. This unique and complex challenge pushed our team to new heights.

RESULTS

Exceptional teamwork and effective communication led to remarkable achievements. This environmentally friendly train station ushers in a new era of transportation in South Florida. Honored to receive the 2023 ABC Excellence in Construction Award, this project posed unique challenges that we tackled with enthusiasm.
