On March 15, more than 100 individuals gathered at U Health/Jackson Memorial Health System for the Topping-Out Ceremony of The Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center for The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. The event marked a significant milestone in construction as the final steel beam was placed to the framework that commenced in September of 2018.
Thanks to a generous gift of $25 million from Mrs. Lynn, the new Institute will be a world premiere rehabilitation hospital, offering state-of-the-art rehabilitation to people with neurological injuries and disorders. At 250,000-square-feet, there will be indoor and outdoor spaces for patients; patient “apartments” where patients and caregivers can practice new, safe skills before returning home (such as how to lift your loved one from the bath, navigate household hazards, etc.); and many other innovative features.
