Jackson Diagnostic is a three-story, 120,000 square foot medical-use building featuring 72 inpatient beds. Each floor accommodates 36 intensive care patient bedrooms along with associated support spaces. The new construction phase took 20 months to complete on an existing structure.
Early in the design phase, it was decided that our prefabricated steel frame would be installed on the roof of a fully operational hospital with active operating rooms. To prepare for construction, we had to coordinate with the medical director to schedule around complex surgeries, pausing construction as needed. Additionally, towards the project’s conclusion, we faced an unforeseen obstacle: the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The hurdles we overcame, from coordinating with an active hospital to navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, have ultimately made the final outcome of this project even more rewarding. Our dedication and hard work were recognized when we were awarded the ABC Excellence in Construction Award in 2021. We can confidently say that every effort was worth it, and we are honored to have played a role in bringing this vision to life.
