OVERVIEW

The Make-A-Wish Foundation operates as a nonprofit organization dedicated to granting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Their latest venture involves the construction of a five-story, 30,000 square foot building, distinguished by its innovative leaning glass positioned adjacent to the bustling I-95. This architectural gem serves as a testament to the organization’s mission to challenge limitations and uplift spirits

CHALLENGE

Our scope of work primarily focused on the ground floor, this proved challenging, particularly as our work involved the structural steel supporting the leaning glass wall systems, a crucial component of the building.

Additionally, the round concrete columns were intended to feature embedded steel plates to which the steel tubes would be welded to. However, as we were not involved at the project’s inception, we opted to design and install postmounted plates with anchors instead.

RESULTS

Fortunately, our meticulous approach ensured successful execution, allowing construction to proceed smoothly without any further interruptions. Our work on this project was recognized for its excellence with the 2024 ABC Eagle Award, underscoring the exceptional skill and dedication that went into bringing this visionary building to life
